Red Riding 1974

Red Riding 1974 ( 2009 IMDB wikipedia ) It’s grim up Norf. Red Riding 1974 is the first of three films that are based on David Pearce’s novels of murder, corruption and mayhem. The novels have some relation to the Yorkshire Ripper case.

The film was a bit like a dark, nasty version of Life On Mars. A young journo returns up Norf after working in the South. A number of young girls have been murdered and mutilated. There is much dodgy dealing and corruption involving a local property developer.

The film isn’t bad, it makes much of the idea that local corruption and darkness can stay in place even though the crimes in the film would have taken the issues outside the community.
