Bossypants (2011) by Tina Fey is another showbiz memoir. It’s not a bad book, it’s mildly amusing. Compared to Steve Martin’s Born Standing Up and America on Purpose the book is a little flat though. The most interesting parts of those two books were the parts that predate the rise to fame of the respective authors which Fey doesn’t manage to do well.
The best parts of Bossypants are the bits about playing Sarah Palin and the sketches with Palin and Clinton in SNL. Fey’s recollections of being part of an improv troupe in Chicago are disappointing. Still, for fans of Fey the book is worth a read.
