The Adventuress of Henrietta Street (2001) by Lawrence Miles is a peculiar Dr Who novel that is written from the point of view of someone assembling notes from various sources. This makes the book, which has a strange plot to start with really quite hard to stay with. The Dr is on earth without the TARDIS in the late 1770s . He moves in to a brothel where ‘tantra’ is practised which in the novel is truly magical and causes a link to be established with other worlds from which ape like demons emerge. The Doctor prepares a ceremony to defeat these creatures. A sort of villain known as Sabbath appears who is a renegade British agent. It’s all strange and doesn’t really work. It is interesting though.
