The Last Command (1993 ) by Timothy Zahn is the final book in the Thrawn Trilogy.
The Last Command is quite a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. Thrawn has obtained an abandoned Fleet, cloaking technology and cloning facilities and is powering along conquering Alliance held systems. His tactical nous is also mentioned every few paragraphs. His clone dark Jedi C’Boath is continuing to go mad.
Meanwhile the usual crew of Han, Leia, Luke, Chewbacca, Lando and the droids work to save the day, and surprise, surprise, they do. They are also joined by another smuggler and his force feeling assistant.
It’s all amusing soap opera until someone gets their hand chopped off. The Last Command is worth a read for Star Wars fans who want something that won’t make them cringe.
