You are Not So Smart

You are not so Smart (2011) by David Mcraney is a book based on the website of the same name. The book goes over many delusions that we all have.

There are about 50 chapters where a misconception is presented and the reality of the situation based on psychology is revealed. Each is essentially a blog post from the site. They are all interesting and worth reading, the only problem is that you can do so on the website.

There are chapters on procrasination, the Dunning-Kruger effect and many other standard mistakes we make. Some of them are also no doubt somewhat wrong and based on psychological experiments that may not as be as applicable as we claim. The book doesn’t, unfortunately have a chapter on people gaining knowledge from pop science books of dubious quality.

Nonetheless, You are not So Smart is definitely an enjoyable, informative read.
