The Mezzanine

The Mezzanine (1988) by Nicholas Baker details a man’s lunch break and indeed just his ride on an escalator in incredible detail. It brings to life the thoughts we all have about the mundane in a hype-real way. The details of paper towels, shoe laces and a myriad of other items are remarkably well brought to life.
