Pinball (1973) by Haruki Murakami is the second part of The Rat books. The plot follows the unnamed protagonist and The Rat, back in the city the protagonist left. The narrator is a translator who lives with twins and goes through his life and searches for a pin ball machine. Meanwhile The Rat lives on in his old life.

It’s very definitely a Murakami book and his style is more evident than in the first of the series. It’s a worthy read for anyone who likes Murakami but it’s not his best.
