If On a Winter’s Night a Traveller

If On a Winter’s Night a Traveller (1979) by Italo Calvino is a post-modernist romp where the story spends much of it’s time discussing the reader and the reader in the book.

The wikipedia page on the book is well worth a read. I’d read the book a few decades ago and remembered it as an amusing book but I’d largely forgotten what happens. The book is fragmented with all the various stories of the books that the protagonists find and read throughout.

If On a Winter’s Night a Traveller is well worth a read. Many people love the book, lots also hate it but must should find it worth the effort.
